About Us
The vision for a Christian school in Rangiora was born out of a desire by families to have their children taught by Christian teachers in a school that promoted Christian values and was based upon a curriculum providing a broad and consistent Christian worldview. The school was established in 1979 as a private primary school, becoming a state integrated Area School for Years 1-13 in 1994. This change allowed attendance dues to drop significantly and staff members to be paid as state school employees, while the school is still able to retain its unique Christian character. Rangiora New Life is the only state integrated school of Christian character offering a comprehensive education to pupils at Years 1 to 13 in the South Island outside of Christchurch city and is a member school of the New Zealand Association for Christian Schools (NZACS).
Enabling every student to succeed academically is a top priority for us. We work very hard to ensure that all students enjoy a learning environment in which they can thrive and grow spiritually, academically, socially and physically. The high priority given at primary and junior secondary to literacy and numeracy achievement and the consistent quality teaching across the curriculum have ensured that we have attained outstanding results in NCEA, including a 100% pass rate for all 37 Year 11 Students in Level One in 2010 . In addition we are one of three South Island schools that offer Cambridge International Examinations from Year 11 through 13 in Mathematics and Science subjects. Students sitting these examinations have also gained excellent results. The School also provides carefully designed programmes for both gifted and talented and remedial learners at various levels.
The school has experienced steady roll growth to where it is now able to offer well over 300 students a comprehensive education at all levels of the school, with strong learning pathways right through to the end of secondary in a very wide range of subjects. Students all enjoy excellent facilities and benefit from the most recent e-learning technologies. Programmes in sports and outdoor education as well as cultural events form a major component of the holistic education offered at Rangiora New Life. The majority of our students live in the Waimakariri District (about 90%) and are from Christian families representing nearly every local church congregation. (Our Deed of Integration with the Crown specifies that 90% of our students must come from families who meet the Christian Special Character requirements.)
Local bus services transport students to the school, as well as two school buses (from Oxford and Kaiapoi) and two minivans (from North-East Christchurch).
