Rationale
This policy and its accompanying procedural documentation are in place in order to ensure that there is accurate, effective and regular feedback to parents, Board and outside agencies on the achievement and progress of the school’s students.
General Purposes
Fulfill our statutory obligations to report to parents/caregivers, the Board and other agencies on the achievement and progress of the children at our school.

Information About Individuals
- Provides feedback to students about their progress and achievements
- Provides feedback to teachers to assist in planning and delivering programmes
- Recognises and affirms the achievements of students and encourage them in their learning
- Assists students to determine their strengths and areas for improvement
- Helps students make decisions about future courses of study and possible career options
- Identifies individual learning needs and barriers to learning and helps teachers develop strategies to address these
- Tells parents about their child’s progess at school
Information About Groups of Children
- Contributes to evaluation of the effectiveness of teaching, learning and assessment strategies, activities and programmes
- Informs decisions by the Board about the allocation of funds
- Informs the Board and local communities about the extent to which the school has been successful in promoting student achievement for specific groups of students
- Provides a basis for identifying, analysing and addressing barriers to learning for groups of students
Information About All The Children
- Helps the Board and staff evaluate the school’s progress in meeting the requirements of the New Zealand curriculum
- Helps the Board and staff evaluate the success of the school in promoting the learning of all its students
- Informs strategic management decisions
