CommunityFAMILIESThe school’s community consists primarily of evangelical Christians whose beliefs, attitudes and value systems are based around a distinctly Christian worldview. Over 35 Christian congregations are represented. The majority of pupils are drawn from Rangiora and its close environs. Local bus services transport a good minority of the students to the school, two school buses (Oxford, Kaiapoi) and two minivans (North-East Christchurch). GOVERNANCEAs an integrated school we have both a proprietors group and a Board of Trustees. The Proprietors are the group that signed the deed of integration with the Ministry of Education and are responsible for matters related to the special character of the school and the capital development of the property. The proprietors and their representatives on the Board of Trustees are made up of members of the Rangiora New Life Fellowship and others they ask to represent them. The land and buildings are owned by the proprietors who levy attendance dues to meet the costs of our extensive building programme in line with the School’s Integration Agreement. The school is managed by a Board of Trustees which meets on the third Wednesday of each month (February - November). The Board comprises: 5 elected Parent Representatives PARENT TEACHERS ASSOCIATIONThe school has an active Parent Teacher Association. The PTA’s role includes encouraging communication and social interaction between the school and parent community. The committee comprises of interested and supportive parents along with teacher representatives with the twofold purpose of promoting school community and fundraising for special projects. It is very important that as many parents as possible get involved in this support group. It puts action behind words when it comes to Christian schooling being a success. Money raised is spent on equipment and projects that will enhance the school and the learning programmes that are not covered by the operations grant. |
