International - Information

Thank you for your interest in enrolling an international student at our school.

Enclosed you will find a School Prospectus with relevant documents for your information. It also includes a number of forms that will need to be filled out and returned to us for processing. It is very important that you include all the contact details of the students natural parents, in case we need to contact them in an emergency. We also need to be informed of any changes made to these contact details during the students attendance at our school.
Please note: Secondary Education is more expensive than Primary Education. Payments are expected in advance. Receipts will be provided and a copy of the refund Policy is included in the Prospectus Pack.

Just to make you aware the laws in our country regarding the Enrolment of International Students determines that we can not enrol any students in Year Level 6 or below that are not living with a parent.
We are signatories to Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students – which enables us to enrol students between the Year Levels 7-13. However there are strict guldelines in place that we must meet to ensure that they are suitably cared for. This includes ensuring that each student has regular contact with their parents (at least once a week), which is the financial responsibility of the parents.

English Proficiency:
- Primary international students (Yrs 1-8) no specific language requirements necessary, however all teaching instruction is conducted in English, so it would be helpful to have a basic understanding of it.
- Secondary international students in Yrs 9-10 are required to have a Pre-intermediate level of English.
- Secondary international students in Yrs 11-13 at NCEA level will need a minimum of 5.0 on IELTS.
- English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) tuition will be provided for international students as necessary.

Upon entry into our school we also need to see (and take a photocopy of) the student’s:
o Passport with current Student Visa (please note Visa are issued for each school and they are not necessarily transferable)
o Copy of recent school report with verified English translation is required
o Medical Insurance Policy showing relevant dates,
o Birth certificate (if the student is living with Parents)
If you cannot provide the compulsory records your enrolment can not be considered.

If you are requiring Homestay Accommodation, please let us know as soon as possible so we can arrange a suitable placement for the student. We have a very thorough process for screening Homestay providers and have good processes in place for monitoring the student and the care they are receiving.

We look forward to your response. Thank you once again for your interest.

Regards

Donna McCormick
