A Cambridge international education is progressive and flexible, developing successful students. At RNLS students can enroll for IGCSE, AS and A-Level during their senior years at school.
IGCSE Mathematics is an essential subject for all students. It is a fully examined course which encourages the development of mathematical knowledge as a key life skill, and as a basis for more advanced study. The syllabus aims to build students' confidence by helping them develop a feel for numbers, patterns and relationships, and places a strong emphasis on solving problems and presenting and interpreting results. Students also learn how to communicate and reason using mathematical concepts.
IGCSE Mathematics provides a choice between core and extended curricula, making IGCSE suitable for a wide range of abilities. Each learner’s performance is marked out of a percentage and then benchmarked using eight internationally recognised grades.(A*, A, B, C, ...)
The IGCSE course provides excellent preparation for the Cambridge Advanced stage including Cambridge A/AS Levels and Cambridge Pre-U, as well as other progression routes. It incorporates the best in international education for students at age 14 – 16.
Cambridge International A and AS Level Mathematics courses have been created specifically for an international audience. The content of International A and AS Levels is carefully devised to suit the wide variety of Cambridge schools worldwide, avoiding any cultural bias.
A and AS Level Mathematics builds on the skills acquired at IGCSE level. The syllabus allows students flexibility to choose from three different routes to AS Level Mathematics - Pure Mathematics and Mechanics or Pure Mathematics and Probability and Statistics.
Cambridge International AS Levels contain half the content of the corresponding Cambridge International A Level and may be completed in one year. Students choose the Cambridge International AS Level as a qualification in its own right or as a stage on the way to Cambridge International A Level.
RNLS enjoyed fine results in 2010 with a 100% pass rate and 63% of students receiving a grade of B (70%) or better; including a top mark of 96%.
